Welcome Aboard!

Take flight on the maiden voyage of the Skyjacks Setting Zine! This will provide fans of the Campaign: Skyjacks podcast, and interested newcomers, more details and insight into the world of Spéir. We know people are excited for a worldbook and role-playing game, but those will take time. This will help you learn more now and give us a chance to prepare assets for a project like that in the future. You don't need to read this zine to enjoy the show, but we hope it will add to your enjoyment.

In This Issue...

In our first issue we explain the basic dynamics of the different varieties of airiners in Spéir. You'll learn about the Red Feather Syndicate and what exactly makes them the authority on who gets to sail. You'll also get insight into the fraught environment aboard Red Feather skyships. We also explain privateers and the particular arrangement that allows them to sail independent of Red Feather banners, and also why positions aboard privateers ships are so coveted. Finally, you'll get more information on dashing corsairs, how pirates survive, and get a small preview of corsair ships other then The Uhuru.

There is plenty of never before seen art by Liz Novaski, Justin Lanjil, and Margot Wang along with classic pieces by  Fiona Hsieh, Hannah Lavender, Galen Pejeau, and Ben Zwiefel all arranged beautifully by Jason Robinson. The background image for this page is by Justin Langil.

Including the cover, this is 28 gorgeous pages of cool Skyjacks stuff!

Price

This costs only $20! Lots of work went into this issue! There is a ton of new writing, original art, layout, and editing. We want to make more zines like this one and generate a foundation for larger products. To do that, we need to at least break even here.  We tired to make this as beautiful as possible. If it's a success, we'll be able to make a lot more!

Our suggested price of $30 will also gift a Community Copy of this zine, allowing access for those who might not otherwise be able to afford it. And as a further bonus, it also rewards the purchaser with an image of "The Communion" (sometimes known as "The Union") the Luminary that governs Love and Harmony. Art by Justin Langil.

Skyjacks

The world of Spéir comes from the Campaign: Skyjacks podcast, an anti-colonial RPG actual play show following the adventures of skypirates in a world inspired by the music of the Decemberists and classic adventure fiction.

Our story follows pirates on the crew of The Uhuru, a formidable skyship. The Uhuru has everything a crew of corsairs could want: strength, reputation, and one of the best captains in the sky– the notorious Orimar Vale.  There is one slight problem: the captain has been dead for months and a small group of conspirators has been using necromancy to pretend he is still alive. Listen to see how long Gable, Jonnit, Travis, and Dref can keep a secret.

Hey! I'm not really interested in Skyjacks as an AP (Sorry James!) but I am interested in Skyjacks as a game setting. Will this zine make sense if I don't listen to the show?

So I missed the fine print and paid just the minimum of $10, which doesn't get me access to anything (aside from claiming a community copy, which I don't want to do). I'm happy to pay another $10 to actually get the zine but I'm not sure if there's a way to do that.

It looks like if I pay $10 again, then that'll be a separate $10 purchase and I'll just have two purchases that don't get me anything. Is that right? And is there a way around it?

(1 edit)

I'm in the same boat.  I saw "Donate $10 or more" and donated $15.  Then I didn't get anything.  I read over the info, but there's no way to just increase your payment.  I donated $30 to get the zine and give a community copy.

Not sure the best way to go about either getting a refund, or having the $15 I paid go towards giving a donated copy?

Hey!

I am sorry this was confusing. This is our first experience with itch as a platform. I'll refund you for your purchase so you can check out again. Thanks for your patience!

This is more complicated than I thought. Please email us at gamemaster@oneshotpodcast.com so I can get the information I need to process your refund.
